Alright, so let's look at a scenario to buttress the point.

l decided to give one love horoscope a trial. This love meter requires that the user inputs just the first names of the couple.

So, l entered the names of a couple l know so well, "Timothy" and "Blessing" and click on calculate.

When the result was displayed, the love horoscope returned a 56% rate of success and gave me the following result:

"Dr. Love thinks that a relationship between Timothy and Blessing
has a reasonable chance of working out, but on the other hand,
it might not. Your relationship may suffer
good and bad times. If things might not be working out as you would like them to,
do not hesitate to talk about it with the person involved.
Spend time together, talk with each other."

l decided to try again.

This second time, l substituted the English names l used earlier with the native names of the couple, "Kome" and "Ngozi".

A few seconds later, the love horoscope returned a score of 75% and gave the following remarks:

"Dr. Love thinks that a relationship between Kome and Ngozi
has a very good chance of being successful, but this doesn't mean that you don't
have to work on the relationship. Remember that every relationship
needs spending time together, talking with each other etc."

Now, we have two sets of contradictory results. So, l decided to try again for the third time.

Consequently, l entered the names of the same couple again, this time as "Oghenekome" and "Ngozichukwuka".

What did the love horoscope predict this third time?

"Dr. Love thinks that a relationship between Oghenekome and Ngozichukwuka
has a reasonable chance of working out, but on the other hand,
it might not. Your relationship may suffer good and bad times.
If things might not be working out as you would like them to,
do not hesitate to talk about it with the person involved.
Spend time together, talk with each other."

Look at the results once again. 56%, 75% and 66%. What do you think? Is the difference in the results not remarkable? l thought as much!

That aside, the designers of this love horoscope, in the home page of their website, makes this claim: "We all know that a name can tell a lot about a person. Names are not randomly chosen: they all have a meaning."

Did you take note of the statement "a name can tell a lot about a person"? But you and l know that that statement is an unfounded and unsubstantiated generalisation indeed.

While it is true that all names have different meanings, a person's name does not tell you a single thing about that person. Okay. So, what if l told you that my name is Oghenekome, what does it tell you about me? What? Absolutely nothing! My name will not tell you and certainly does not tell you a single thing about me. So, do you see the futility of relying on the forecasts of love horoscopes like this one?

And what about the issue of many several couples having the same names like "Blessing" and "Timothy", which are very common names in many places? Does it mean that all their relationships will turn out in the same manner (56%) as predicted by this bogus love calculator? Of course, that's not true!

Now look at this disclaimer at the bottom of the page: "Disclaimer: It's not possible to get a hundred per cent probabilty, therefore there's no guarantee of any kind that the relationship will work out between these two people. No record is being kept of any information entered by the user of this program. The creators of this program are in no way liable of any actions which might be taken by users of this program. Jesus wept! From the tone of this love horoscope, it is very obvious even to the blind that users of this program do so entirely at their own risk. And did you notice too that the remarks for the results 56% and 66% have the exact same wordings?

"Dr. Love thinks that a relationship between Oghenekome and Ngozichukwuka has a reasonable chance of working out, but on the other hand, it might not. Your relationship may suffer good and bad times. If things might not be working out as you would like them to, do not hesitate to talk about it with the person involved. Spend time together, talk with each other."

Did you also take note of the last line in the disclaimer notice "Please note that this site has no serious intention whatsoever."? Reflect on this for moment. For the love of Christ, does that sound like a prediction that you should take seriously? Does it not sound like a computer game meant for children and pre-school toddlers for nothing but entertainment purposes only?

Okay. What about love astrology whereby the likelihood of success of relationships among dating couples is predicted based on the relationship among and movement of the stars? Well, if this love horoscope is bad, the love astrology is even much worse. lt is two sides of the same outlandish golden coin; which ultimately is of very low value and not of any real benefit to anyone.

So, if zodiac love matches and love horoscope are grossly unreliable, why is it gaining in popularity?

Certainly, zodiac love matches - either as complete love match astrology or simply as love horoscope - is fast gaining in popularity on the internet nowadays.

And that perhaps accounts for why people in general rely religiously on weather forecasts by the meterological department when making plans to travel.
