My Special Valentine Gift...
...to All My Friends on Facebook

The exchange of valentine gift by lovers is a widespread practice associated with the annual Saint Valentine's Day celebration.

Otherwise known as lovers' day, Saint Valentine's Day is faithfully celebrated worldwide by almost everyone as a special day dedicated to lovers.

But, apart from the exchange of valentine gifts on valentine's day, is there any special symbolism or meaning to the annual Saint Valentine's Day celebration?

Well, according to Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia, "Valentine's Day is an annual commemoration held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions..."

Wikipedia continues, "It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as "Valentines"). The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished."

From the explanation of the origin of Valentine's Day by Wikipedia, the day is associated with the celebration of romantic love between lovers wherein Valentine gifts are exchanged as an expression of such love. Thus, the Lovers' Day celebration assumes that everyone has love in their lives. But, is that the case? Of course not!

If you happen to conduct an opinion poll or survey, the findings might very well surprise you. I wouldn't be surprised though if at least 30% of the male adult population do not have love in their lives.

So, what happens to this category of people on Lovers' Day? Would they not feel totally excluded when every other person seem to be having so much fun on that day whereas they themselves are left out of it?

So it was that the year 2010 Valentine's Day celebration came rolling by once again. The date was 13th February, 2010 - the eve of Lovers' Day. The feeling of love in the air that evening was so thick that you could even cut through it with a very sharp knife. Yet, l had no love by my side. Amazing! Do you now see what l mean by feeling excluded?

"Mobile Companions" is Born!

As midnight gradually approached and the gathering cloud of love thickened, l ruminated over the thought of love, lovers and Valentine gift while lying down alone in my bedroom. I also wondered how other persons in my shoes must be feeling at that moment without love by their side on Valentine's Day.

Then, all of a sudden, an idea struck me that l should give my great friends on Facebook a special Valentine gift. After all, good friends can also celebrate their friendship in such a unique way that romantic lovers can never ever comprehend! And who says that only lovers alone can monopolise the day to themselves? No Sir! "Intimate companions" can also celebrate the day too!

Taking a look at my friends' list in retrospect, l have the privilege of coming in contact with some very great friends like (at an alphabetic order) Ada Casanova-Masset, Ann Mason, Catherine lnutu Kabechani, Nazareth C, Oluwayemisi Ann Emuze and so it goes on and on. The list appear to be endless.

But, if you are my friend on Facebook and your name does not appear on this list it does not necessarily mean that you are less a great friend than the others.

It just show that we've been so busy with our day-to-day affairs that we've not actually had the time to get to know each other better.

My Special Valentine Gift

Well, the creation of this group is my special Valentine gift to every single person on my friends' list - almost a thousand (1,000) of them and even including future friends whose identities, at present, are unknown.

The group is about five (5) months old as l write this today, 18th July, 2010. As at the time of this write-up, the group's membership status has risen to over three hundred (300) persons. At this rate, we shall scale over a thousand (1,000) persons in membership before the end of the year.

Let me use this medium to thank all old members of the group for believing in the group and making the decision to joy. I also welcome all those who have just recently joined the group. Let me reassure you that your expectations for joining the group shall surely be satisfied.

Now, what is the objective for creating this group?

The Objective of Creating the Group

The objective of creating the group is to assemble together a distinguished crop of like minds in different fields in order to foster and engender a spirit of camaraderie among members so as to facilitate the exchange of ideas within the group and also bring friends closer still to become companions.

It gives me great joy indeed to write this page as a dedication to the Mobile Companions group on Facebook.

Activities of the Group

Right from the very blast of the whistle, the group has been very active. When l take a look back to the activities of the group over the past five (5) months, l am indeed amazed at the rate of progress that l have accomplished with this group.

So far, l have organised and successfully conducted three (3) online webinars for the group. These events focused on computer fundamentals (relating to basic computer operations), GSM mobile phone issues (Do-lt-Yourself Repair and Maintenance Guide), some great suggestions to improve one's finance as well as how to do online marketing using Facebook.

These events, though past, are highly informative and recommended to one and all. If you wish to get access to them, simply login to Facebook or register for free (if you're not already a member) and simply follow this link to gain acess to these past events page.

There are three (3) more events that l have scheduled to take place at a later date, but those events will take place here in this website on this special page dedicated to Mobile Companions on Facebook. The three (3) events that are still ahead are "How Not To Lose a Lot of Money on the lnternet (lt is Time to Wise Up!)", "How to Build a Great Website that Makes Money" and "Creative Writing Competition".

Future Expectation for the Group

l am highly impressed indeed at the progress of this group. It is good and gratifying as it portends to me acceptance by almost everyone in my Facebook cycle of friends and a sign of good things to come. Now l believe the saying that big and great things come in small packages.

It is my personal belief that no progress is too slow just as long as you keep putting one foot ahead of the other.

And as my good friend, lziegbe lgbineweka, who is also a member of the group said at the early days of this group, "the sky will be your starting point". I believe it is a prophecy and l claim it with all my heart!

In a short while, this group could very well witness a great metamorphosis to a full-fledge website. Who knows?

But, since l already have this website and this web page - which is an extention of the Facebook group - maybe l might just look in the direction of creating an interactive forum for all mobile companions on this website. Only time will tell. The plan is a realistic one though, whichever direction l eventually decide to follow.

I see a bright future for this young group and the inclusion of an interactive forum is likely to trigger a huge boost in the membership of the group.

Secret to Success

There is no such thing as "secret to success" because success is staring at everyone right in the face. The problem is that many persons prefer to take the shortcut to success only to find out, perhaps too late, that there is no such thing as "shortcut to success".

The Perfect Holiday Gift

The only proper channel or route to success is hard work, hard work and more hard work. Hell no! I'm just kidding. Let me not scare you by this sort of talk.

On the other hand, the fact remains that for you to succeed at anything, you must put in a decent amount of hard work and persevere at it with dogged determination until you eventually succeed.

Though l cannot say in all honesty that l am there yet, but l have engaged in serious planning over a period of many months now before the arrival of this site. And usually when you plan well, you tend to achieve your objectives and even surpass them. It is for this purpose that I have been scrupulously gathering the materials and articles to be used for my websites over the period of many months. A look at my notes on my Facebook profile and the various discussion topics on the group page will shed light on what l mean by this.

Please Accept My Valentine Gift

Well, to all my friends on Facebook, l humbly and freely give this small gift, my special Valentine gift, as a token of my love for all my friends from the bottom of my heart - MOBILE COMPANIONS! And even though we are not romantic lovers, we may very well metarmorphose good friends to "intimate companions".
