My Marriage Day

by Lazarus Orozino

My marriage day is a day that will remain memorable and evergreen in my mind for as long as I live!

Did I hear you ask: "why"?

The reason is simple enough, isn't it? However, for the avoidance of doubt, I am going to relate to you my fascinating story of how the search for an ideal marriage partner got me involved in different relationship scenarios and how I eventually found true love.

Additionally, by the time you finish reading my marriage story, you will have a complete understanding of why I have this passionate attachment for my marriage day.

Searching for the Ideal Marriage mate

Before I met Favour, my wife, I had to go through a lot of hassles in my search for the ideal marriage mate. However, the search was not easy by any standard. It took me several disappointments, heartaches and false start before I eventually found the perfect match for me. But, I tell you in truth, the search was worth it!

It recalls to my mind the saying that "what is worth having is worth waiting for". I have been blessed indeed to have a worthy companion by my side after those many months and years of rigorous search for the ideal marriage partner. But, those disappointments in the past have now pale into insignificance indeed.

A major factor which made my search somewhat difficult is the fact that I was not getting any younger with each passing day.

I was gradually approaching 40 years of age and, in these parts of the world (most especially Nigeria), if a young man is above 40 years and continue to remain unattached and unmarried, tongues will begin to wag and he will most certainly become the subject of idle gossip by many meddling layabouts.

To make matters worse, many girls which I came across were not interested in me as a person or in carrying on a long-term relationship, much less marriage. They were all interested in quick, hard cash. Additionally, they only cared about themselves and were selfish. So, I had to be careful not to make the wrong person my marriage mate.

However, I was seeing all my elder and junior siblings getting married all around me. Thus, my continued unmarried situation became as if I was the last unmarried Nigeria man still around.

My Marriage Day

My marriage day was simply splendid. Matter of fact, it was the very best.

All my friends were there. Members of my family were there too. My colleagues at my government job were also there in their drove. I was simply astounded beyond contemplating.

The marriage ceremony took place at Oleh, a suburban town in Delta State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The marriage was fragmented into two - the Traditional Marriage Ceremony and the White Wedding.

During the traditional marriage ceremony, the bride price was paid according to Urhobo Native Law and Custom. It was largely a family affair and as such only few persons were invited to the ceremony.

A day after the traditional marriage ceremony, precisely Saturday, 6th November, 2010, the white wedding which served to solemnize and legalize my marriage with Favour was contracted and she became Mrs. Favour Oghenesivwe Orozino.

After the marriage ceremony, we took the marriage pictures that you now see at the top and at the bottom of this page.

No doubt about it whatsoever, my marriage day is indeed a memorable day that would remain evergreen in my memory for as long as I shall live!

Who would have thought that after many years of fruitlessly searching for a suitable marriage mate, that I would eventually end up with an angel in human flesh that is both beautiful and lovely to behold?

Additionally, Favour was the ideal marriage partner that any man could ever wish for. Apart from being beautiful, she is intelligent, humble and respectful. Above all, she is God-fearing and very religious. Added to that, she is not a "pepper-less" girl. She is an excellent cook and I am sure glad that she is mine!

My Marriage Pictures

My marriage pictures are indeed a sight for sore eyes. Like a friend of mine who saw it said, "It gives somebody hope".

Is it any wonder that I am very proud of my marriage pictures? At present, I am yet to see any marriage pictures to equal or even beat my personal collection of marriage pictures with respect to it being the very best of them all.

Feed your eyes with my marriage pictures and enjoy the sensation you derive from them!
